  1. A zither is a member of a family of musical 
  2. instruments consisting of one or more strings 
  3. stretched over a resonating frame. The modern 
  4. concert zither has up to 45 strings of which 
  5. five, passing over frets, are plucked with a 
  6. plectrum for melody, and the remainder are 
  7. plucked with the fingers for harmonic 
  8. accompaniment.
